Volunteer Opportunities

The many volunteer opportunities available through the Hospice Society are divided into two categories. Direct volunteers work directly with people accessing our services and therefore must complete in-depth training. They are asked for a commitment of 50 hours during the year and must be 19 years of age. They must complete an interview, background check, and provide two references. Indirect volunteers complete assignments and tasks that support the Society as a whole, with training done on the job. Many of our volunteer positions are flexible to fit the volunteer's schedule.

Direct Opportunities include:
  • One-to-one grief support
  • Facilitating grief support groups
  • Rotary Hospice House support
  • Palliative support for families in the community
Indirect Opportunities include:
  • Antique Shows
  • Baking
  • Hospice Resale Shop
  • Heavy lifting and hauling
  • Mail outs
  • Phone outs
  • Plant care
  • Recycling
  • Selling raffle/event tickets
  • Sewing

Have a say in Hospice Palliative Care in Prince George

We are looking for individuals with a passion for the work being done through the Hospice Society.

 

WHO WE ARE

The Prince George Hospice Society serves to enhance the quality of life and death of individuals experiencing life threatening illness, and help people work through grief and loss by providing supportive programs and services.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING

We need a balance of skills and expertise in order to best conduct the business of the organization. We are currently looking for multiple Board members of various skills and backgrounds, and are hoping for one specifically with experience in construction, facilities management or contracting.

Candidates must:

  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be dedicated and positive
  • Be an energetic team player

Board positions will provide challenge, variety and an opportunity to serve. These are unpaid, volunteer positions. Conflict of interest restrictions apply.
