  Finance Support

The Prince George Hospice Society is looking for someone to join our exceptional team!

The Prince George Hospice Society is currently seeking an individual with finance expertise to serve as FINANCE SUPPORT. This is a TEMPORARY FULL-TIME position, for a period of 6 months.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Support person is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to the Finance Director, assisting in the business operations of Rotary Hospice House, Solace Centre, Fundraising Events and Hospice Resale Shop, and providing support for special projects as assigned by the Finance Director.

The accounting and administrative support provided to the Finance Director includes service contract management, compensation and benefits processing and management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, postings to the general ledger, preparing reconciliations and reports, and other administrative functions.

Registered Nurse (Rotary Hospice House)

The Prince George Hospice Society is seeking a REGISTERED NURSE for Rotary Hospice House. This is a CASUAL position.

The Registered Nurse reports to the Nurse Lead and is supervised by Executive Director and is guided by the Visions and Values of the Prince George Hospice Society. The Registered Nurse plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social and psychological needs in accordance with Rotary Hospice House policies and procedures and in alignment with NHA Palliative Care Guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized nursing program
  • Current practicing membership with CRNBC
  • Minimum one (1) palliative care/hospice experience
  • Current CPR (Basic Life Support) certification

Care Aide (Rotary Hospice House)

The Prince George Hospice Society is seeking a CARE AIDE for Rotary Hospice House. This is a CASUAL position.

The Care Aide reports to the Nurse Lead and is supervised by Executive Director and is guided by the Visions and Values of the Prince George Hospice Society. The Care Aide plans, implements and evaluates nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social and psychological needs in accordance with Rotary Hospice House policies and procedures and in alignment with NHA Palliative Care Guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows established care plans and provides personal care for facility residents
  • Bathes, grooms, dresses, assists with meals and oral hygiene and performs care duties as applicable
  • Responds to call bells/alarms
  • Observes and monitors clients' progress, symptoms and behavioural changes and reports significant observations
  • Utilizes mechanical aids such as specialty beds and wheelchairs to transport clients and provides assistance with lifting and/or transferring of clients following established lifting/safety techniques

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 10 and graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide program
  • Current registration with the BC Care Registry is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Food Safe Certification

Volunteer Opportunities

The many volunteer opportunities available through the Hospice Society are divided into two categories. Direct volunteers work directly with people accessing our services and therefore must complete in-depth training. They are asked for a commitment of 50 hours during the year and must be 19 years of age. They must complete an interview, background check, and provide two references. Indirect volunteers complete assignments and tasks that support the Society as a whole, with training done on the job. Many of our volunteer positions are flexible to fit the volunteer's schedule.

Have a say in Hospice Palliative Care in Prince George

We are looking for individuals with a passion for the work being done through the Prince George Hospice Society.

 

WHO WE ARE

The Prince George Hospice Society serves to enhance the quality of life and death of individuals experiencing life threatening illness, and help people work through grief and loss by providing supportive programs and services.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING

We need a balance of skills and expertise in order to best conduct the business of the organization. We are currently looking for multiple Board members of various skills and backgrounds, and are hoping for one specifically with experience in finance or accounting.

Candidates must:

  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be dedicated and positive
  • Be an energetic team player

Board positions will provide challenge, variety and an opportunity to serve. These are unpaid, volunteer positions. Conflict of interest restrictions apply.
